Companies have reported a 12.9% rate of absenteeism since 1 January because of inclement weather, according to a survey from IBEC.
The survey from the employers’ group says daily work hours lost since the beginning of the year wass 17.4%, and put the percentage of sales lost at 18.8%.
Production is down by 12% since 1 January, says IBEC.
IBEC says it based the figures on 261 responses received by 12pm yesterday to a survey sent last Friday to a random sample of its members.
