Motorists are again being advised to drive with caution, especially on secondary and local roads, after another night of freezing weather.
Temperatures were down to almost -8C on some roads this morning and in some counties the temperatures are continuing to fall as the morning progresses.
National Roads Authority weather stations indicated particularly low air temperatures on the N4 at Longford and the N5 at Charlestown in Co Mayo.
Ice is widespread, and while there is a slight improvement in Leinster, there are also some road closures.
The gates into the Phoenix Park at Knockmaroon Hill are closed, due to dangerous road conditions, gardaí are asking motorist to avoid the area.

Freezing fog is affecting some areas, and Met Éireann says the fog could persist throughout the day.
The Dublin Airport Authority says flights are running to schedule.
Gardaí are warning against unnecessary journeys, but advising motorists who do have to travel to exercise extreme caution.
AA Roadwatch says the best time to travel is around noon, and to allow extra time for the journey.
