Aer Lingus management and the pilots union IALPA have concluded their appearance before an Arbitration Tribunal aimed at resolving their dispute over a €97m-a-year cost-cutting programme.
While substantial agreement has been reached with most grades, talks between between management and the pilots broke down last week.
Aer Lingus then said it would proceed with around 1,000 compulsory redundancies and fleet reduction due to the failure to agree the cost-saving proposals.
The airline was seeking savings of around €30m from the pilots, and while progress was made, there was no agreement on the final value of the savings.
There were also other issues of dispute, including the pension deficit, overtime, and outsourcing.
Today's arbitration tribunal was chaired by the chief executive of the Labour Relations Commission Kieran Mulvey.
It's understood a recommendation is expected before the end of the year.
