Consumer prices continued to fall sharply in November, although not as quickly as in recent months, according to the Central Statistics Office.
Prices dropped at an annual rate of 5.7% in November, compared with an annual drop of 6.6% in October.
The CSO said lower food prices were offset by higher transport and education costs.
Food prices were down 0.8% from October, with the prices of alcoholic drinks and tobacco fell 0.4%.
However, transport costs rose 0.8% in the month due to higher petrol and diesel prices and an increase in air fares. Education costs jumped by 1%.
Rents continued to fall - down 1.9% in the month - but mortgage interest costs edged up another 0.1%.
