Bord Gáis plans to reduce gas prices by 8% from 1 February for residential and small business customers.
Following a mid-year review of gas prices, it has submitted the proposal to the Commission for Energy Regulation.
It is believed the decrease is possible followng a steady decline in wholesale gas prices in the British market and appreciation of euro against Sterling.
