The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that the body recovered from the water in the Dutch city of Rotterdam yesterday is that of Mayo man Noel Gill.
The 31-year-old father of two had been missing since 19 November.
He was last seen going home after watching the France-Ireland football match in a pub in the city centre.
Mr Gill had been living and working in Rotterdam and commuting home to Westport every few weeks.
The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing full consular assistance to the Gill family and is overseeing arrangements for the repatriation of Mr Gill's body.
