More than 150 expressions of interest have been received from prospective FÁS board members.
The Department of Enterprise Trade and Employment, which is handling the appointments process, says it will be some time before it works through the applications.
The deadline for applications was today.
The current board of FÁS is still in place to facilitate an orderly transition to the new board with the exception of former chairman Peter McLoone, who resigned.
Legislation making its way through the Oireachtas provides for the new FÁS board to be made up of 11 members, rather than the previous 17, and it will not include nominations from the social partners.
