About 50 residents of a centre for asylum seekers in Sligo town protested outside the premises this morning.

They are complaining about conditions at Globe House including a lack of hot water.

The building, a refurbished convent, is owned by Bridgestock Ltd and a spokesman for the company said there was a minor issue with hot water this morning, which has been rectified and a new part for the boiler is on the way.

He said that conditions at the centre are excellent, they comply with all regulations and the entire operation is Q Mark accredited.
