At least 92 people have been killed in a car bomb explosion and 217 injured at a market in Peshawar in northwest Pakistan.
The blast occurred in a crowded street in the Meena Bazaar and the force brought down buildings.
The explosion brought down buildings in the northwestern city of Peshawar just hours after US Secretary of state Hillary Clinton arrived in Pakistan.
Doctors at the Lady Reading Hospital in the city said many of the casualties were women and children attending the market.
Some people are still trapped in a building. We are trying to rescue them,' bomb disposal official Shafqat Malik told reporters.
Mrs Clinton said her visit was intended to 'turn the page' on a relationship she described as 'scarred'. She also condemned today's attack.
Tension has soared across Pakistan following a spike in violence blamed on Taliban and al-Qaeda-linked extremists.
The attacks have left nearly 200 people dead this month and raised acute US concerns.
Peshawar is a gateway to Pakistan's northwest tribal belt, where the military is pressing a major offensive against Pakistani Taliban militants blamed for some of the worst of the recent carnage.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said he was outraged at the 'appalling' bomb and the loss of so many lives.
He also condemned a Taliban assault on a UN-approved hostel in the Afghan capital that killed at least eight people.
