A man in his 20s has been shot dead in Mulhuddart in Dublin.
The shooting took place on Ladyswell Road, Parlickstown, Mulhuddart at around 8.30pm.
The man was shot a number of times in the chest and upper body.
He was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown but died there within the hour.
Gardaí are now trying to establish a motive for the shooting.
The area has been sealed off for forensic and technical examination and the State Pathologist's office has been informed.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station.
