Strong earthquake hits Panama

A strong 6.1-magnitude earthquake has struck off Panama's Pacific coast with no victims or damage reported.

The tremor struck at 8:03pm (1.03am Irish time) 194km south of the western city of David, at a depth of 10km.

It was felt in the Chiriqui, Bocas del Toro and Veragua provinces.

The US Geological Survey also measured the earthquake at 6.1 magnitude and said it struck 410km southwest of Panama City.
