An inquest into the deaths of three men who died in a crash between Ballyshannon and Donegal town last year has heard that two of them were not wearing seat belts.
17-year-old Michael O'Sullivan from Ballyshannon was driving a Honda Integra on the morning of 8 November last year.
He was on the way to collect his girlfriend to go to a car show to sell his car.
Travelling in the opposite direction were the Mayor of Ballyshannon, PJ Branley, 58, and 40-year-old Dessie McNulty, who were delivering Sinn Féin newsletters.
Two friends of Mr O'Sullivan's, who were also going to the car show, said they pulled in to clean a CD which was getting stuck and Mr O'Sullivan passed them.
One said he was travelling at about 120km/h. The road was slippy and they saw his car slide. One said 'he just lost it'.
Witness Philip Travers, who was travelling in front of Mr Branley's van said he saw the Honda coming round the bend at high speed 'like a flying machine' and said he was going to pull in and ring the gardaí to tell them.
He then saw the car shoot across the road and there was a puff of smoke when the Honda hit Mr Branley's van.
Mr Branley sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Sligo General Hospital but died soon afterwards.
Mr McNulty and Mr O'Sullivan, neither of whom had been wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.
Mr McNulty had suffered multiple injuries, Mr O'Sullivan had sustained a fractured neck.
None of the men had any alcohol or drugs in their system.
The jury returned verdicts of death in accordance with the medical evidence and Coroner Dr Diarmuid Hegarty said these were 'particularly sad, particularly tragic losses'.
