The National Consumer Agency is seeking to trace over 5,000 faulty gas cookers after six related deaths from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Further information and model details

So far only 2,000 of the affected units, which produce dangerous levels of carbon monoxide when the grill is used with the grill door closed, have been traced.

Four cooker brands - New World, Beko, Flavel and Leisure - are affected.

The National Consumer Agency’s Anne Fitzgerald said it is important that people check with the manufacturer to see if they are affected.

It is also urging all consumers - including landlords and letting agents - to check to see if they have an affected model.
