Dublin City Council is proposing to reduce on-street parking charges by up to 90c an hour during peak shopping periods.

Officials say the proposed reduction for Thursday evenings and Saturdays is to encourage shoppers back into the city centre.
The proposal would see a flat rate of €2 an hour in the city centre - reducing the charge by 90c in the core yellow zone and by 40c in the city's red zone from 6pm on Thursdays and all day on Saturdays.
The Council had increased parking charges by 20c an hour last December.
City centre businesses recently claimed that the rush hour bus corridor at College Green is seriously harming evening trade particularly on Thursday nights - the second busiest day of the week.
However, in their report, council officials refer to a fall-off in trade due to the economic climate.
The proposal will be considered by the Council's transport committee next week, which will also consider a recommendation to introduce a 30km speed limit across the inner city centre.
Meanwhile, the Council says the new bike hire scheme has surpassed all expectations with 6,000 people subscribing in the first week alone.
