A fisherman from Passage East in Co Waterford has died following an accident.

Patrick ‘Paddy’ Mason died after he went overboard around 10am this morning while fishing for crabs and lobsters off the Wexford coast.

The 59-year-old was fishing alone on the 30ft boat 'The Harbour Pride'.

The alert was raised after the boat ran aground on rocks at Portally Cove on the Waterford coast.

His body was found just before 1pm around three miles from Hook Head.
