Swine flu - School concerns

A spokesman for the Health Service Executive has said the HSE does not envisage closing schools in cases of human swine flu unless there is a risk to public health.

Speaking on RTÉ’s This Week, Dr Patrick Doorley said the HSE would work with individual schools to ensure they remain open by sending home children suspected of contracting the influenza virus.

Rose Tully, PRO of the National Parents' Council, said she believed post primary schools were on top of the situation.

She also said she would be alarmed if parents were to be prosecuted for keeping their children home from school because of fears of swine flu.
