Hundreds of PSNI officers kept loyalists and nationalists apart when over 40 loyalist bands paraded through the mainly nationalist Co Antrim village of Rasharkin last night.

As the event ended, a petrol bomb was thrown at the loyalist crowd from the nationalist side but the fire was put out and no-one was injured.

Earlier a small number of missiles, including bottles and golf balls, had been fired at some of the passing bands.

Up to 2,000 supporters of the loyalist bands remained in the village after the parade and some of them chanted sectarian songs.

But stewards managed to disperse the crowds. Senior Sinn Féin members were present throughout the event.
