A person who was diagnosed with Influenza A(H1N1) has died in the eastern region of the country.

It is the second death in Ireland from human swine flu.

The Health Service Executive said that the family of the deceased has requested that no details should be released.

On 7 August an 18-year-old woman with underlying health issues died at Tallaght Hospital from the virus.

She was the first person to die from the H1N1 virus here since the first cases emerged in this country in May.
