Budget Travel has confirmed that one of its franchisees, the Portlaoise Travel Group, has gone into liquidation.
Portlaoise Travel Group has outlets in Athy, Kilkenny, Portlaoise, Carlow, Thurles and Tullamore.
In a statement today, Budget Travel, which has a further seven franchisees around Ireland and 31 of its own outlets, says customers who booked a holiday with the Portlaoise Travel group are fully protected and their reservations would be honoured.
A spokesman also said that the demise of the Portlaoise Travel Group has no affect on the day-to-day operations of Budget Travel or the remaining Budget Travel shops, which are operating as normal.
The Portlaoise Travel Group has been in operation for 20 years.
