The body of 13-year-old Matthias Latek has been recovered from rocks in the Cod's Head area of west Cork.

The body was formally indentified this afternoon at Castletownbere Community Hospital before being moved to Cork University Hospital where a post mortem will be carried out either this evening or tomorrow morning.

The 13-year-old had been on holiday in Ireland from Poland visiting his father who worked as a baker in Kenmare.

This morning's discovery was made by the Derrynane Inshore Rescue Service at around 9.45am.

The father and son both went missing on 12 July during a fishing trip near Allihies.

The body of 40-year-old Piotr Latek was recovered last week.
