The State Commission investigating clerical sexual abuse in the Catholic Archdiocese of Dublin is to report to the Minister of Justice on Tuesday.

The three-member Commission, headed by Circuit Court Judge Yvonne Murphy, examined the Church and State’s response to allegations that clergy in the Archdiocese had sexually abused children.

The cases of 46 priests were examined.

The allegations investigated date back to 1974 but some stretch back into the tenure of Archbishop John Charles McQuaid.

It has taken the Commission three and a half years to gather their information.

The Minister may not be able to publish all of the findings because two of the priests identified are subjects of criminal proceedings.
