Two killed in separate road accidents

Two people have been killed in separate road accidents in Derry and Longford.

Gardaí at Granard are investigating a collision that occurred at approximately 2.30pm today at Clogh Bridge, Mullinachta, Co Longford.

It involved a high-level transporter vehicle, known as a teleporter, and a car.

The driver of the teleporter was killed and his body remained at scene. He is believed to be 42 years of age.

There were three adults and a child in the car. They were not injured.

The road was closed to facilitate a Garda Forensic Collision Investigation.

And a man was killed in a two-vehicle collision on the outskirts of Derry city.

The crash happened on the Culmore Road shortly before 7pm yesterday evening.

A second man was taken to hospital but his injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
