Seven men have been charged in connection with a demonstration at the site where the Corrib gas pipeline is due to come ashore in Co Mayo.
The men, ranging in age from late teens to mid-40s, were arrested following a protest by the Shell to Sea group in Glengad last night.
The charges include public order offences, criminal damage, obstruction and possession of offensive weapons.
The men are due before Ballina District Court on Wednesday.
Around 150 protestors were involved in last night's demonstration.
They marched to the perimeter of a compound near the shoreline at Glengad and a number of the demonstrators attempted to pull down fencing around the site, but there was no breach of the compound.
Campaigners claim the fence was erected illegally, but Shell EP Ireland says all necessary consents have been given for the development.
A large garda presence remained at the site through the night but there were no further incidents.
The Shell to Sea group says it intends to maintain its campaign over the coming weekends.
