Dublin - NBRU votes on cost-cutting plan

National Bus and Rail Union drivers with Dublin Bus have voted to accept Labour Court proposals on the company's cost-cutting plan that will reduce the fleet by 120 vehicles, affecting over 60 routes.

SIPTU drivers had earlier voted to accept the proposals. Following the outcome the company now plans to introduce the changes on Sunday week.

NBRU General Secretary Michael Faherty, said after the ballot that, while there is some relief that industrial action has been averted, the union is concerned at the reduction in services.

Mr Faherty said it was short sighted of the Government to cut funding for Dublin Bus at a time when demand for public transport is expected to increase.

Full details will be available on the Dublin Bus website, www.dublinbus.ie next week.
