Parking will not be banned around Croke Park for this year's All Ireland Championship.
Councillors today agreed to send a proposal on enlarging the parking cordon for public consultation.
A final decision is not now expected until the October meeting of the city council at the earliest.
When a 2km cordon was proposed last year, residents immediately outside the zone complained that parking problems would be displaced into their areas.
Officials have now proposed an enlarged cordon of up to 4km extending West to Cabra, North to Whitehall, East to Killester and South to East Wall.
Roads and Traffic manager Tim O'Sullivan told today's meeting of the council's Transport Committee that the public consultation will now begin in the second week of June.
