Workers at a Belfast car components factory say they intend to stage a Waterford Crystal style sit-in at the plant until the terms of their redundancy package have been finalised.
Earlier today, the 212 employees at the Visteon plant in Finaghey were told they are to lose their jobs as the factory is to close.
The plant makes engine parts for the Ford Fiesta car and was previously owned by the Ford Motor Company.
Its future had been in doubt for some time given the economic downturn and the drop in car sales but the announcement of the factory's immediate closure came as a shock to the employees.
At a lunchtime meeting the workers were told the company had gone into administration and the American owners were closing its Belfast facility and two other plants in England.
