Emergency workers have recovered a body in the rubble of an apartment block that collapsed along with Cologne's city archives building last week.

Two men aged 17 and 23 were reported missing after the building and two adjacent apartment blocks collapsed last Tuesday.

The cause of the accident at the building, which holds documents covering over 1,000 years of the German city's history, is still not known.

The body was found shortly before 1am this morning.

Fire brigade spokesman Daniel Leupold said the search for a second man was continuing
