Two boys have been killed and 11 people injured after a commuter train hit a group of football fans walking on rails in a Paris suburb.
The fans of the Lille football team had watched their team win at the Stade de France last night and took a short cut along the railway tracks to get to the bus taking them home.
Two boys aged 11 and 17 were killed by the train.
A 40-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy, believed to be relatives of the victims, were seriously injured.
Another person was in serious condition and eight others suffered minor injuries.
The group used the unlit railway track at Aubervilliers, north of Paris, as a short cut, said Jean-Pierre Farandou, regional director for the SNCF railway company.
Rescuers also searched a nearby canal fearing that a victim could have been thrown into the water by the train.
The accident took place about 600 metres from the nearest train station.
