Teenager rescued after Derry accident

A 14-year-old Spanish girl is recovering in hospital after a fall on rocks near Portstewart.

The accident happened while she was clambering over rocks in an area known as Port na Happle. She slipped and injured herself.

Lifeboats and an Irish coastguard helicopter from Sligo took part in the rescue.

The girl was taken to the Causeway Hospital in Coleraine, Co Derry for treatment to injuries which were not believed to be life threatening.
