Department of Finance sources have said that they do not expect to announce details of any bank recapitalisation today.

Intensive negotiations on recapitalisation of AIB and Bank of Ireland have been continuing over the weekend.

International credit rating agencies are expected to issue their latest view on Ireland's credit rating within the next week, Government is understood to be anxious to be able to show that they have taken measures to address the banking crisis.

It is also hoped that if a new national recovery plan can be agreed with the social partners over the next 24 hours, that will be viewed positively by the ratings agencies.
