AIB has confirmed that the technical issues with its retail electronic payment and ATM systems have been resolved.
For a period of several hours earlier today, the system was intermittently running at one third of normal capacity.
Some customers were unable to make transactions using debit and credit cards in retail outlets where an AIB system was in use,
The problem also prevented people from taking money out of certain ATMs.
The bank has apologised to those people and organisations affected by the problems.
