The Tesco arcade in Sligo town has reopened after being shut down last night following an inspection.

The arcade was shut down by the Chief Fire Officer in Sligo last night after he found a number of problems with the building.

A spokesman for Tesco Ireland said the breach concerned an irregularity with the store's fire alarm.

The arcade houses a large Tesco supermarket and a number of other businesses, including a bakery/cafe, mobile phone shop, travel agent and clothes shop.

Sligo County Council confirmed this evening that the requirements set out by the Chief Fire Officer have been met by the company and it reopened for business at 6.30pm this evening.
