Public confidence in policing in Northern Ireland has reached a record high.
According to a survey by the Northern Ireland Policing Board, almost 70% of people believe that the PSNI is doing a good job.
Last September, over 1,200 people across Northern Ireland were asked for their views on the work of the PSNI, the Policing Board and the District Policing Partnerships.
The results were very positive with more people than ever before expressing satisfaction with policing.
93% of respondents said they felt very or fairly safe in their communities and 86% of those questioned expressed confidence in the PSNI's ability to provide a day-to-day service for everyone in Northern Ireland.
Almost 70% said they believed that the PSNI is doing a fairly or very good job on the whole.
Chairman of the Policing Board Desmond Rea described the results as very positive.
One of the less positive aspects of the survey concerned the Policing Board itself, with only 30% of those who had heard of it, saying that it did a good job on consulting the public about policing issues.
