32 people have been killed and many more injured in two suicide bomb attacks in Iraq.

Apparently coordinated car bomb and suicide bomb attacks at Baghdad's police academy killed 15 people and wounded 45 others.

The near simultaneous explosions came hours after a senior Iraqi military official was wounded by a roadside bomb targeting his convoy. Three people died in that attack.

In a separate incident, a suicide car bomber killed 14 people and wounded 30 in the northern city of Mosul.

The bombing targeted an Iraqi police and US military joint patrol.

Officials expect more violence ahead of provincial elections on 31 January.
