The seventh Media and Multicultural Awards have been announced at a ceremony in the Abbey Theatre in Dublin.
The awards, which were established by multicultural newspaper Metro Éireann, aim to recognise people, groups, companies, institutions and media platforms that promote diversity and multiculturalism in Ireland.
There were ten separate awards across two categories: media and multicultural. In addition to the main awards, there were three special awards.
Des Bishop picked up the Foras Na Gaeilge Award for his In the Name of the Fada television show on RTÉ.
The National Action Plan Against Racism Award went to O'Connell School in Dublin for its extensive English language teaching to its large number of pupils from immigrant families.
Philip Watt, Director, National Consultative Committee on Racism & Interculturalism, picked up a special Judges' Award for his work over the last decade.
There was also a special bursary this year of €5,000 from the Iris O'Brien Foundation, which went to St Saviours Boxing Club on Dorset Street in Dublin.
This award was for an individual or organisation that has positively responded to cultural diversity in Ireland.
The boxing club was also the focus of the highly acclaimed documentary feature film Saviours.
RTÉ.ie was shortlisted for its site on diversity in Ireland, RTÉ.ie/Diversity.
