Gardaí are beginning their Christmas road safety enforcement campaign today.
The aim is to discourage and detect instances of drink driving and speeding, and to challenge bad driver behaviour.
Gardaí say they will use overt and covert policing, and motorists could expect to see mandatory alcohol tests and speed checkpoints.
