Three people have been rescued after being cut off by rising floodwater in a cave near Doolin overnight.
Brian Mac Coitir, Robin Sheen and Brian Lillis entered the cave, which runs 8km from Lisdoonvarna to Doolin, at 3.30pm yesterday afternoon but became trapped inside.
The alarm was raised early this morning when one of the cavers contacted gardaí by phone.
It is understood the three were trapped in a cavern and the weather outside the cave was said to be poor.
The operation involved Doolin Coast Guard, Irish Cave Rescue Organisation, the fire service and gardaí.
