Services have been held across Ireland to mark World Day of Remembrance for road crash victims.
Mayo County Council held a Mass at Knock Shrine at midday, while a remembrance Mass was held in the Augustinian Church in Drogheda, Co Louth at 1.15pm.
Prayers were also said at Masses elsewhere to remember those who have died in road crashes.
The chairman of the Road Safety Authority, Gay Byrne, has said today should serve as a reminder for road-users to know their vulnerability.
253 people have been killed in road accidents so far this year - that is more than 30 fewer than this time last year.
Brian Farrell of the Road Safety Authority said despite improvements in motorists' behaviour, care is still needed on the roads.
