Ceremonies have taken place across Britain and Ireland to remember soldiers who have died in armed conflict.

This year's events fall just two days before the 90th anniversary of the end of World War One.

President Mary McAleese attended a special ecumenical service at St Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin.

Special events also took place in Cork and Limerick.

Acts of remembrance were held at Cenotaphs across Northern Ireland.

A service in Belfast was led by high sheriff councillor Margaret McKenzie, with a two-minute silence at 11am to remember those who have died.
