SIPTU is to seek the intervention of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions in its dispute with Aer Lingus.

Speaking after a meeting of shop stewards last night, SIPTU'S National Industrial Secretary Gerry McCormack said they would be asking ICTU to try to set up a dispute resolution process at government level.

Last Wednesday, Aer Lingus withdrew from talks with SIPTU - and says it is proceeding with plans to outsource ground operations, with the loss of up to 1300 jobs held by SIPTU members.
