Taxi fares are set to increase from midnight tonight.
The new charges mean that hailing a cab will rise to €4.10.
A premium rate of €4.45 will apply at other times, on Sundays and during public holidays.
This rate will also apply on 24-26 December and 31 December – 1 January, as according the Commission for Taxi Regulation there is an under supply of taxis around Christmas.
Passengers who soil vehicles will now be liable to pay a €140 surcharge - an increase of €15.
The price hike was announced by the Commission for Taxi Regulation in September.
The last fare increase was in 2006.
The Taxi Regulator says that since then bus fares have increased by 8.9%.
