New figures show that cocaine use in Ireland has nearly doubled over the past five years.

The data contained in a report from the National Advisory Committee on Drugs shows that just over 5% of the population say they have used the drug.

That figure was 3% five years ago.

The research found that nearly half of cocaine users get the drug from family and friends.
