There were delays on rail services between Dublin and Athlone, Galway and Westport this evening due to a serious incident on the line.
This evening's trains from Galway and Westport to Heuston were also disrupted.
Earlier today rail services on the Belfast to Dublin line were disrupted following a security alert at Lurgan.
A suspicious object was reported to have been seen at lunchtime close to the track at Bell's Row in Lurgan, Co Armagh.
The line was closed and buses were used to transfer local passengers between Lurgan and Portadown.
