Five children were among the victims of a suicide car bomb attack in Afghanistan today.

The bombing also killed at least two NATO soldiers, and injured others.

The attack was in the northern province of Kunduz, where German troops serve with NATO's International Security Assistance Force.

In Berlin, the defence ministry confirmed that the soldiers targeted were German, without providing any details on the number of casualties or deaths.

In Kabul, a British aid worker, Gayle Williams, was shot dead this morning while walking to work.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, saying she was killed for spreading Christian propaganda.

The Taliban also claimed responsibility for the Kunduz attack.
