A man charged with murdering Sunday World journalist Martin O'Hagan seven years ago is being held in a secure unit in prison because the authorities fear he may be attacked by other inmates.

Drew King is accused of murdering Mr O'Hagan in September 2001.

The journalist was shot dead in front of his wife in Lurgan, Co Armagh.

Mr King is challenging the decision to hold him in a segregated unit at Maghaberry Prison.

Lawyers for the NI Prison Service told the court they had intelligence to indicate there is a high degree of risk to him from others inside Maghaberry.

Mr King was given leave to apply for a judicial review of the decision.
