An investigation is under way at Kerry Airport after a light aircraft lost control on landing.

The aircraft ended up on the grass margin off the runway after it touched down.

The plane had been en route from Cork to Kerry Airport.

The incident happened at about 11.30am when the light airplane was attempting to land.

Two passengers and a pilot were on board and were not injured.

The airport’s emergency procedures were put in place immediately and the runway was closed for two hours.

The Air Accident Investigation unit of the Dept of Transport is currently on site and will carry out an investigation into the incident.

Despite earlier delays a spokesperson for Kerry Airport said that flights are now back to normal.
