A privately-operated group water supply scheme in Co Galway has been contaminated by the cryptosporidium bug that caused serious health concerns in the city and county last year.
Galway County Council says the parasite has been found in a 70-house scheme at Ballinabanba, near Kilconnell.
It is advising householders in the area to boil all water before drinking it or using it for food preparation.
Cryptosporidiosis is a diarrheal disease caused by microscopic parasites found in water.
It can be caused by human or animal waste contamination of water systems.
Separately, a boil notice has been issued for the village of Muff, Co Donegal and the surrounding area.
The notice has been put in place due to a bacterial contamination of water from the Drumhaggart reservoir.
