70 new jobs have been announced at US health benefits company Aetna in Kerry.

The positions will be created at its existing Castleisland facility over the next three years.

The Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade & Employment, Mary Coughlan, made the announcement during a celebration of Aetna's 20th anniversary in Castleisland.

Recruitment is already under way for some of the positions in the claims processing and customer service areas.

Separately, IDA has announced 30 new jobs for Dublin with the arrival of a new NNE Pharmaplan office.

Pharmaplan is a global company focused on design and consulting services for the life sciences industry and is headquartered in Denmark.

Meanwhile, more than 200 jobs are being created in Northern Ireland by a US medical device manufacturer.

A £16m (€20m) investment by CardianBCT in Larne, Co Antrim, is set to deliver 235 extra skilled jobs and more than double the workforce to 425.

The investment - which is getting £1.7m (€21.m) support part funded by the European Regional Development Fund - will establish the plant as one of the company's strategic manufacturing sites.

The announcement was made during an early morning visit to the plant by Economy Minister Arlene Foster.

She said: 'This major investment is a boost for Larne and for the Northern Ireland economy as a whole.'
