Thousands of travellers are stranded after a fire broke out in the Channel Tunnel today.

All rail services on the undersea route have been suspended.

Six people suffered minor injuries and over 30 others needed to be evacuated from the tunnel.

The fire started on a lorry on board a freight train travelling from Folkestone to Calais, seven miles from the French side of the 31-mile tunnel, Kent Police said.

In a statement tonight, the operator said: ‘Eurostar does not expect to operate any services tomorrow between the UK and the continent.’
