Dawn Farm Foods has decided to temporarily stand down production at its meat plant at Naas, Co Kildare.
This follows a link between meat from the plant and an outbreak of salmonella.
The company says the temporary cessation of operations will allow for a pharmaceutical grade 'clean down' at the plant.
More than 100 people in Ireland and the UK have been infected by a strain of salmonella and there has been one fatality in Liverpool.
An investigation by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland, the Department of Agriculture and other food safety bodies is continuing to look at other sources linked to the outbreak.
Anyone with concerns can contact the Food Safety Authority hotline on 1890 33 66 77.
